The video adapter was redetected yet again when I went from kernel-2.6.10-1.760_FC3 to kernel-2.6.10-1.766_FC3. An update has been released for Fedora Core 3 (kernel-2.6.12-1.1372_FC3) which may contain a fix for your problem. Please update to this new kernel, and report whether or not it fixes your problem. If you have updated to Fedora Core 4 since this bug was opened, and the problem still occurs with the latest updates for that release, please change the version field of this bug to 'fc4'. Thank you. Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot. When rhgb appears, show details. kudzu comes up with new hardware, and found "Intel Corp. 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Adapter", and I tell it to configure that hardware. <whine>rhgb hides the details I asked it to show when kudzu exits. And then again shortly thereafter</whine> The login screen comes up in 800x600 mode, and when I log in it stays that way. I'm using KDE, so System Settings -> Display -> hardware, monitor type, unknown monitor. I select generic 1024x768 LCD, and exit. logout, login. Forgot to set the resolution stuff, so set resolution to 1024x768, and millions of colors (from thousands). Logout, login. Things are now working. PROBLEM: The system redetects my video card as New Hardware every time I update the kernel. This is a Toshiba Satellite A45-S120 notebook PC. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-2.6.10-1.760_FC3 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade kernel 2. Configure re-detected video card 3. wrong resolution. Actual Results: Redetects the existing video card as New hardware and proceeds to come up with 800x600 resolution. Expected Results: Should not decide that I added a new video card when it's the same hardware, and then reset the resolution to default. Additional info: This is a Toshiba Satellite A45-S120 notebook PC.
