Description Jeff Nelson 2017-07-14 22:10:28 UTC
This is the BZ to track the rebase of qemu-ga-win, the guest agents for Windows guests on RHEL.

Comment 3 Sameeh Jubran 2017-09-07 14:35:43 UTC
I have been working lately on dropping the current downstream repository -qemu-ga-win - we have for building qemu-ga for Windows and replacing it with the new mingw-qemu-ga-win repository. The new repository is based on qemu-2.9.0 and is built using mingw as it is the case in upstream. The qemu-ga-win is configured to be built using Visual Studio instead, this makes it much harder to keep in track of upstream changes and patches.

This migration process is essential for us to keep our upstream first policy and makes it easier for us to keep up with upstream qemu ga changes.

The new mingw-qemu-ga-win repository is ready and soon we'll drop the old qemu-ga-win repository in favour of the mingw-qemu-ga-win. I'll update this BZ when this happens.

Hi developers,

Which qemu-ga-win commands will be supported in this new rebased version? Or any update compared with last released version?

QE want to make test plan for rhel.7.5 project recently.Could you give some advice?

Thanks,
xiaoling

As you can see in the commit history for the 2.9.0 branch no new commands were merged so I think it should remain as it is.

Sure

The Black Box testing for qemu-ga can be automated easily as the commands are provided in JSON format. You can write different test scenarios that test the
behaviour of the commands, I'd advise you to take a look at this page as it explains in great detail some key features in the qemu-ga:

In case this answer is not sufficient please do write me for further inquiries that you have.
