Description Eric Jones 2017-07-18 19:14:44 UTC
- What is the nature and description of the request?
As an admin I require the ability to view logs from further back than 14 days.

- Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
We have monthly bill runs and it would be of great benefit if we could search and look at previous months logs to compare to current bill run logs for troubleshooting issues.

- How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
Modify the curator details [0] to keep data longer than 14 days.

[0] https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/3.4/install_config/aggregate_logging.html#configuring-curator

- For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
let logs live longer than 14 days

I have increased the priority though I don't have a timeline for delivery at the moment. I am curious if log forwarding (sending logs off the dedicated cluster onto the customer's logging stack) is something that could possibly solve this for them? See: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1465630

Have we done the work to see how much space 14 days of logs take? If it takes a small fraction of the current logs, why can't we just increase it?

We can also increase the app log rate separate from the operational log rate.

Further, if there are particular projects they want to increase and not others, that can be done as well.

All of the above are supported by the product.
