The acpi_ns_terminate() function in drivers/acpi/acpica/nsutils.c in the Linux kernel before 4.12 does not flush the operand cache and causes a kernel stack dump. A local users could obtain sensitive information from kernel memory and bypass the KASLR protection mechanism (in the kernel through 4.9) via a crafted ACPI table.

Created kernel tracking bugs for this issue: Affects: fedora-all [bug 1473215] Statement: This issue does not affect the versions of the Linux kernel as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, 7 and Red Hat Enterprise MRG 2 as the code with the flaw is not present in the products listed. This was fixed for Fedora with the 4.12 rebases. |
