Description Andrew Dahms 2017-08-07 01:13:39 UTC
Starting with Red Hat Satellite 6.3, RHEL 6 will no longer be supported as a base platform on which Satellite 6 can be installed. As part of this change, all references to RHEL 6 must be removed from the Installation Guide.

* Supported Operating Systems

  Change "supported only on the latest versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  Server or 7 Server" to "supported only on the latest version of Red Hat
  Enterprise Linux 7 Server"

* Hardware Requirements

  Change "The latest version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server or 7 Server"
  to "The latest version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Server"

* Enabling Connections from a Client to Satellite Server

  Remove the section "Configuring the Firewall on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6"
  and change the title of "Configuring the Firewall on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  7" to "Configuring the Firewall"

* Enabling Connections from Capsule Server to Satellite Server

  Remove the section "Configuring the Firewall on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6"
  and change the title of "Configuring the Firewall on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  7" to "Configuring the Firewall"

* Enabling Connections from Satellite Server and Clients to a Capsule Server

  Remove the section "Configuring the Firewall on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6"
  and change the title of "Configuring the Firewall on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  7" to "Configuring the Firewall"

* Identifying and Attaching the Satellite Subscription to the Host

  Change "On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 (and higher) or 7.1 (and higher), run
  the following command:" to "On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 (and higher), run
  the following command:"

* Configuring Repositories

  Remove "Ensure the Red Hat Enterprise Linux repository matches the specific
  version you are using."

  Remove the sub-step "If you are using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, run this
  command."

  Make the sub-step "If you are using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, run this
  command." a step.

* Restricting Access to mongod

  Remove the section "Configuring the Firewall on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6"
  and change the title of "Configuring the Firewall on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  7" to "Configuring the Firewall"

* Configuring Repositories (for Capsules)

* Find all references where commands are split in accordance with the base
  operating system version such as "On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, run the
  following command:", and change the step so that there are no sub-steps, and
  the step only refers to RHEL 7.

  For example -

  == Current ==
  Ensure goferd is running:

    On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, run the following command:

    # service goferd start

    On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, run the following command:

    # systemctl start goferd

  == New ==
  Ensure goferd is running:

    # systemctl start goferd

* Large Deployment Considerations

  Remove all sections that refer to RHEL 6, and remove strings such as "On Red
  Hat Enterprise Linux 7"

* Capsule Server Scalability Considerations

  Remove all tables that refer to RHEL 6.
