How reproducible:
Always. It crashes with all notebooks/laptops with keyboard backlights.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start using Mate desktop. mate-power-manager applet immediately crashes.


Actual results:
mate-power-manager crashes quickly after it is started. 100% reproducible.

Expected results:
mate-power-manager shouldn't crash.

Downgrading upower to version 0.99.4 should provice a workaround for the mate-power-manager bug.
