Description Larry Adams 2017-08-11 12:27:02 UTC
Description of problem:

It appears that snmpd is not built with the UPD6 bidings.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

net-snmp-5.7.2-24.el7_3.2.x86_64

How reproducible:

Very easy, always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Edit the snmpd.conf file, empty it and then add two lines:

rocommunity public
rocommunity6 public

2. Restart snmpd using 'systemctl restart snmpd'
3. Run netstat -an | grep 161

Actual results:

You see udp port 161 listening to 0.0.0.0, but no udp6 listening on :::0

Expected results:

Both udp6 and udp ports listening on all IP's.

Additional info:

That's it.

Comment 2 Larry Adams 2017-08-11 16:47:56 UTC
I'm going to close this. It was reported that you must add the following to the Net-SNMP snmpd.conf file:

agentaddress udp:161,udp6:161

This was not the case in earlier versions of Net-SNMP. So, though it's a behavior change, it's now working. So, I'll close this.

Due comment #2, I am closing this as NOTABUG.
