Seeing these messages in the log:
CHECK POWER STATUS returned 129, not ATA compliant, ignoring -n Directive

Yes, we have see this problem too.

According to the ubuntu description;
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/smartmontools/+bug/1569843
the problem is fixed in the smartmontools 6.5 version, while rhel7.4 still USES smartmontools-6.2-8.

Based on the comment made by smartmontools author on launchpad page, it is fixed in smartmontools 6.5. That's what we have in rhel 7.
