Description donatom 2017-08-19 05:40:31 UTC
Description of problem:
AttributeError: ‘DefaultInstall’ object has no attribute ‘efi_dir’ - anaconda

I get the above error message whenever I try to install a custom fedora 26 xfce to a non-efi system or a qemu virtual harddrive. I have turned on legacy (mbr-boot) boot, I have created a livecd usb and have deleted the EFI directory and in general have followed the fedora “United Extensible Firmware Interface” wiki, especially the section entitled “UEFI and BIOS bootability of Fedora media”. Nevertheless, I invariably get this AttributeError.

The custom fedora 26 iso was created using the exact same kickstart file that I used last year to make a custom fedora 25 xfce iso that I successfully used to install the system onto non-efi harddrives. Both of these custom iso images were created with LiveMedia-Creator (used qemu VM to run LiveMedia-Creator for custom fedora 26 xfce)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
anaconda-26.21.12.1

How reproducible:
Very reproducible (100%)

Steps to Reproduce:
1.boot iso from usb drive
2.click on icon "Install to Hard Drive"
3.error message appears after clicking on language of install

Actual results:

Error message: "AttributeError: ‘DefaultInstall’ object has no attribute ‘efi_dir’ - anaconda" (after clicking on "Report a Bug" on the "An unknown error has occurred" error window)

Expected results:
successful install on mbr system

I have tried to install on both efi and mbr systems and get the same anaconda error message.

Yesterday I used a fresh fedora 26 xfce kickstart but efi_dir error remains.
