There's a way to select specific template - on OS level. While I agree this would be a good addition, it's not that easy to add. The templates would need to be remembered on host level so they are used again on host rebuild. The existing provisioning form is complicated already so we should first break it down to a wizard.

I'm linking the upstream issue which I reopened. It was the same request. The concern was about how would the user chose the right template as there can be too many available. I think that the feature would be good but only for testing purpose, it's recommended to create "provisioning profiles" as host groups.

Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and while we recognize that it is a valid request, we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. This is due to other priorities for the product, and not a reflection on the request itself. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please do not reopen. Instead, feel free to contact Red Hat Technical Support. Thank you.

Why can't the Provisioning-template flag be associated with the Host Group?
