Description Andrew Cagney 2005-03-21 15:21:58 UTC
(I'm guessing that this is an install problem)

The Ti G4 runs hot because the cpu frequency stuff isn't loaded.

After loading all the modules

  insmod /lib/modules/<kernel>/kernel/drivers/cpufreq/cpufreq_*.ko

and installing all the packages/demons:

  cpufreq-utils
  cpuspeed

the problem went away (I suspect that less than this is needed :-).

(Other than that, and needing to install using text mode, it is running nicely!)

This works with i686 and x86_64 because the cpufreq modules are compiled into
the kernel instead of being modules. Is this problematic on ppc or something?

This report targets the FC3 or FC4 products, which have now been EOL'd.

Could you please check that it still applies to a current Fedora release, and
either update the target product or close it ?

Thanks.

I've got an Aluminum PowerBook G4 that does cpu frequency scaling just fine
under FC6. I'm going to close this bug accordingly, but yell loudly and wave
your hands if its still a problem on a Ti...
