1. Open CLI 
2. Type cmd to open Clementine
3. Get error message

Can't reproduce here. Clementine launches and works fine. I tried from both CLI and KDE menu.

Did you try wiping the config and cache directories:

rm -rf ~/.config/Clementine
rm -rf ~/.cache/Clementine

Can you try the workarounds from bug #1517748 ?
