Description tara-li 2005-03-26 04:07:01 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050323 Fedora/1.7.6-1.3.2

Description of problem:
When using Mozilla, OpenOffice, or other program using the Gnome File-Save-As dialog, selecting it triggers gnome-settings-daemon, gnome-vfs-daemon, gnome-panel, and nautilus to go crazy, consuming the majority of the CPU time available, and making interactivity go bad.

Top generally looks something like:

top - 22:02:49 up 4:56, 4 users, load average: 4.25, 4.56, 5.01
Tasks: 105 total, 4 running, 101 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie

(Affected processes have been re-niced to 19 to try to make system usable!)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
nautilus-2.8.1-4

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Gnome as a user
2. Start Mozilla
3. Select page or image, and select File Save As

Actual Results: Usability goes to hell as all CPU time gets sucked up.

Expected Results: System should remain stable.

Comment 1 Matthew Miller 2006-07-10 23:41:47 UTC
Fedora Core 3 is now maintained by the Fedora Legacy project for security
updates only. If this problem is a security issue, please reopen and
reassign to the Fedora Legacy product. If it is not a security issue and
hasn't been resolved in the current FC5 updates or in the FC6 test
release, reopen and change the version to match.

Thank you!
