Description Ramon Acedo 2018-01-09 15:57:24 UTC
When using auto discovered hosts the deployment will fail with:

"Message: Host 'undercloud-2.osp.rh' is not mapped to any cell, Code: 400"

Running as root 'nova-manage cell_v2 discover_hosts --verbose' fixes the issue.

Comment 1 Dmitry Tantsur 2018-01-09 16:05:25 UTC
I think we should enable the periodic task for host discovery in the undercloud (we already do it for the overcloud). Moving to instack-undercloud.

Comment 2 Dmitry Tantsur 2018-01-09 16:15:15 UTC
master patch proposed

Comment 3 Dmitry Tantsur 2018-01-10 11:20:16 UTC
Trying another approach that won't involve a potentially expensive periodic task: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/532495/

Comment 4 Ramon Acedo 2018-01-11 12:05:49 UTC
After applying the patch https://review.openstack.org/#/c/532495/ the cells issue is gone and there's no need to run 'nova-manage cell_v2 discover_hosts'

Comment 5 Dan Yasny 2018-02-02 20:15:09 UTC
I have managed to deploy a overcloud on autodiscovered nodes with no extra steps in OSP12. Had to properly tag the nodes first though

Comment 9 mlammon 2018-03-15 18:58:41 UTC
Deployed latest osp 12 2018-03-10.1

Env
openstack-tripleo-common-7.6.9-2.el7ost.noarch

Based on commet#4&5 and code is in puddle we can move to verify
