Description of problem:
When booting my Lenovo P50 inside the dock all screens remain black. It should show the prompt for the LUKS password and then the gdm login screen. Neither happens.

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put Lenovo P50 in dock (40A50230EU). Be sure two external monitors are connected prior to it. On one setup 1xHDMI + 1xDVI. On another setup 1xVGA + 1xDVI. Same issue on both.
2. Boot.

Actual results:
Screens remain black. Including the built-in LCD.

Expected results:
Show LUKS prompt and then gdm screen.

Additional info:
When I remove the P50 from the dock, boot, log in at the GDM screen and put it into the dock after that, external screens seem to work. I'm seeing:

which seems very similar to:

I'm also seeing the following on each boot, which is different to 
that bug:

I also have a P50 with luks encryption (/home), and I just get a blank screen when trying to boot recent kernels. I don't even get to the password prompt. I have 1 monitor connected to docking station, via hdmi, which is the same resolution as the laptop (both 4k).

This may be a dup of #1527669.

Thanks, Robert. It's indeed a dupe of 1527669. Though, I also run into bug 1477182 when booting undocked and then attach to dock.
