According to the smbd manual ("man smbd"), -i turns on "interactive" mode, and is documented as working as you describe. Therefore this is NOTABUG. In chapter 36 of The Official Samba HOWTO and Reference Guide, on page 488 (page 539 in the .pdf on my Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 system (/usr/share/doc/samba*/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf), the example inetd.conf lines do not contain -i. Perhaps you are confusing Samba-3 with a previous version of Samba? They are very different, and expecting one to work like the other will only lead to confusion and misconfiguration. |
