Doc Text:
Tray icons are non-responsive for auto-started applications The *GNOME Shell* *TopIcons* extension, which shows legacy tray icons on the top of the screen, does not work for auto-started applications: the tray icons are non-responsive. This bug does not include applications started after the GNOME Session starts. As a workaround, follow this short procedure to restart the GNOME session: 1. press `Alt` + `F2`, 2. type `r`, 3. press `Enter`.

Description Jiri Koten 2018-02-28 14:23:43 UTC
Description of problem:
There is an issue with gnome-shell-extension-top-icons extension for auto-started applications when the icons appear but are non-responsive, i.e. context menu doesn't work etc. Restarting shell or running another app which uses tray makes it work again. There is probably an issue with initializing the extension.

The issue doesn't appear for apps started after the gnome session starts.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-shell-3.26.2-5.el7
gnome-shell-extension-top-icons-3.26.2-3.el7

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add pidgin to Startup Applications (gnome-tweak tool)
2. Login to gnome classic session
3. Left/Right click on the pidgin tray icon

Actual results:
Nothing happens, the icon is non-responsive

Expected results:
The icon reacts to mouse actions, e.g. shows context menu, buddy list
