Description John Dennis 2018-03-07 00:20:34 UTC
Duplex printing has stopped working, not sure when this occurred, might have been after upgrading to F27, but it used to work with this printer.

Printer: HP-Pagewide-Pro-477dw
Driver: HPP00070.PPD
Driver Version: 19.16

The /etc/cups/printers.conf has this option set:

Option sides two-sided-long-edge

This might be related to this open bug:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1530244

Just to confirm it's the Linux driver and not the printer I printed the same document on a Windows machine and duplex worked fine.

Hi John,

thank you for reporting this issue! Would you mind trying to print duplex from evince (it said in #1530244 that duplex printing from evince works), so we can see if it is same issue? If it is, I'll look into previous one and close this as DUPLICATE and next conversation we can have in #1530244.

Duplex printing from evince does work.

I first noticed the duplex failure when printing from the Google Chrome browser. Their print dialog offers their own print dialog or offers to print "Using System Dialog". I went back to verify if there was any difference when printing using either of the two dialogs from Chrome. The result is the same in both cases, despite having "Flip on Long Edge" in the system dialog or "Print on both sides" in the Chrome dialog the print job is simplex.

Ok, it seems like same bug - would you mind attaching your ppd file to #1530244? I tried to reproduce it, but two-sided-long-edge option works for me. So I think your printer uses different filters or have different setting in ppd.
Closing this issue as duplicate of #1530244.
