Description Vimal Kumar 2018-03-28 06:18:26 UTC
1) Description of problem:

This is a feature request for enabling notification events for CephFS operations.

Events for operations such as:

    * File creation along with path/size/attributes,
    * Closing of file descriptors
    * Change in file size or attributes
    * Deletion of files
    * Renaming files

2) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

RHCS3.0

3) Actual results

Right now, there are no ways to monitor file-level changes in CephFS.

4) Expected results

An interface like inotify for CephFS would help in tracking the changes in the file system.

Updating the QA Contact to a Hemant. Hemant will be rerouting them to the appropriate QE Associate.

Is there any chance to get this implemented?
This feature could be a game changer in certain circumstances as there is currently (as far as I know) no inotify-capable remote file system at all.
The best example would be shared home folders.
