Verified in 5.9.2.3 Steps I used, added a sleep for a 120seconds to the worker sync on both 5.7 and 5.9, confirmed that 5.7 workers failed and 5.9 works started correctly. Since the problem described in this bug report should be resolved in a recent advisory, it has been closed with a resolution of ERRATA.
