Description of problem:
Test kernel-2.6.11-1.1286_FC4 doesn't boot: It reports a MAKEDEV problem (mkdir: file exists) then hangs during "Initializing hardware..." step.

On the same system, kernel-2.6.11-1.1276_FC4 works fine.

Hardware particulars:
AMD Athlon(TM) MP 1800+ model 6
ASUS A7V600 motherboard
no SATA drives, only parallel ATA

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:  MAKEDEV problem (mkdir: file exists) then kernel hang during "Initializing hardware..." step.

Expected Results:  Normal boot, as seen with kernel-2.6.11-1.1276_FC4

I have the same problem here. For me .1282 is OK .1286 hangs as described above.
This is on a Dell Inspiron 2650. If you need more info let me know.
