Description Heather Conway 2005-05-06 16:42:14 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; EMC IS 55; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

Description of problem:
When an AX100i SP reboot occurs, the Cisco iSCSI driver doesnât log back into array.
This doesn't occur with the QLA4010 HBA/driver.
This doesn't occur with the same iSCSI driver when attached to an AX500i.
RHEL 3.0 U4 with iSCSI 3.6.2 driver....
When the AX100i SP is rebooted, the iSCSI driver tries to re-establish the connection to the SP, but receives an iSCSI error. The error is reported as an out of resources error in the ethereal trace.
If the iSCSI driver is restarted after the SP(s) have been rebooted, the login succeeds.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attach iSCSI host to an AX100i.
2. Reboot an SP in the AX100i.
3. Watch the login information on the host.

Actual Results: The iSCSI login fails after the SP has been rebooted. The driver must be restarted in order for the login to be successful.

Expected Results: The iSCSI login should be successful.

ethereal trace

Attaching the associated ethereal trace to the Bugzilla for review.

Comment 2 Mike Christie 2005-06-09 19:23:00 UTC
what does the AX500i return in this case?

Comment 3 Mike Christie 2005-06-09 19:44:56 UTC
could you also attach the log messages?

Comment 4 Mike Christie 2005-06-09 20:46:38 UTC
actually I think I can fix this pretty easily. Let me figure out how I use our
cvs tree to get the current source and I will send a patch hopefully monday or
tuesday.

always retry target errors

Comment 6 Mike Christie 2005-06-09 21:28:16 UTC
made that patch against sourceforge 3.6.0.2, but it should apply to RHEL and the
current sourceforge with some fuzz

A fix for this problem has just been committed to the RHEL3 U6
patch pool this evening (in kernel version 2.4.21-32.11.EL).

Do we have any feedback from EMC as to whether RHEL3-U6 kernel fixes the
reported problem? Thank you.

Comment 17 Heather Conway 2005-08-26 15:41:28 UTC
We are going to try to replicate the problem and will ping the CLARiiON team
for feedback as well.

Comment 20 Wayne Berthiaume 2005-10-28 14:01:32 UTC
Tested SP reboot on AX100i at R18 with RHEL 3.0 U6 in a EMC PowerPath
configuration. Paths died while SP was rebooting and restored once the SP
returned. This issue is now closed.
