Description Thomas Oulevey 2018-05-14 18:07:51 UTC
Description of problem:

python-s3transfer is part of RHEL from 7.5 release

Shouldn't we remove it from EPEL7 ?

Comment 1 Thomas Oulevey 2018-05-14 18:31:01 UTC
Please check :
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1578071

If we want first to fix issue for existing users first.

Comment 2 Anssi Johansson 2018-05-15 09:53:48 UTC
An alternative would be to change python2-s3transfer into a stub package that has only a Requires of python-s3transfer. I believe this would fix the dependency problems of base's awscli.

On the other hand, RHEL's s3transfer does not work properly as seen in bug 1578083. Perhaps RHEL's s3transfer would need to be fixed first.

Comment 3 Jason Tibbitts 2018-05-15 23:45:17 UTC
If it's decided that a python2-s3transfer stub package is desired, I would be happy to set it up. Just add it to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Tibbs/EPELPythonStubPackages

Comment 4 Troy Dawson 2019-04-09 19:59:38 UTC
I am trying to cleanup EPEL7 packages.

python2-s3transfer hasn't been installable from EPEL7 for close to a year.

I believe python-s3transfer should be removed from EPEL7.

Please respond to this bug, letting us know if you feel this package should still be in EPEL7, or not.

If you have not responded in two weeks, we will assume that you do not mind it being removed and will have a proven packager remove the package from EPEL7.

Comment 5 Troy Dawson 2019-04-09 20:59:47 UTC
I might have made a mistake.
I am seeing python-s3transfer in Centos7 (7.6.1810), but not in RHEL 7.6.
The epel7 version of python2-s3transfer installs successfully on RHEL 7.6.
Investigating why it's in CentOS 7 and not RHEL 7.

Comment 6 Troy Dawson 2019-10-11 19:01:21 UTC
python-s3transfer is not in the standard RHEL 7. (Though it is in CentOS 7)
It is installable.
I am closing this ticket.
