Description Robert Nichols 2005-05-26 18:26:22 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050513 Fedora/1.0.4-1.3.1 Firefox/1.0.4

Description of problem:
During installation, requesting that the boot loader be installed somewhere
other than the MBR has no effect. The existing MBR is still overwritten.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
anaconda-10.2.0.61-1

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Begin a non-upgrade installation of FC4T3.
2. In the boot loader configuration screen, place a check in the "Advanced
   options" box.
3. In the next screen, request that the boot loader be installed to a partition
boot sector (e.g., hda8) rather than the MBR.
4. Continue with the installation.

Actual Results: When you reboot, you will find that the MBR has been overwritten with the grub
boot loader for the FC4 installation.

Expected Results: The existing MBR should have been left intact.
