Description Sahina Bose 2018-07-10 15:48:12 UTC
Description of problem:

Currently gluster logs are rotated every week and stored for 52 weeks - the minimum storage capacity requirement for /var/log is high with these default settings

Can we change this to rotate based on size and keep "x" number of history logs per log?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
NA

Additional info:
the 50-100GB requirement for /var/log is very heavy for deployments like RHHI.

upstream patch: https://review.gluster.org/21187

This can be fixed as a separate 'installation' patch in RHHI.. or as a Batch Update, if critical. Unless marked blocker, this may not make it to downstream yet.

What is the version of "logrotate --version"

Comment 16 Amar Tumballi 2018-12-13 05:04:09 UTC
Also note that, the execution of logrotate is as per crontab or other setup, and it should be invoked by a setup. I suspect because of the option 'weekly', it is setup to check once in a week. We need to see if adding logrotate script to hourly makes any difference.
