Created attachment 1458891 [details]
output of journalctl --boot=-1 --no-pager

Description of problem:
System froze requiring reset button during operations with high file system activity. This started to happen this past week possibly after update to 4.17 kernel and/or other packages. Never had this problem before.
System #1 at work:
Clean install of Fedora 28 x86_64 plus latest updates. Problem occurred twice using EXT4+LVM or BTRFS.
Intel i7 16GB SRAM, internal graphics, 2 WD 1TB SATA drives.
Hard lock occurred during build_packages in chromiumos chroot. Build process downloads, decompresses and builds > 700 packages. System hard locked after ~1 hour. Note, desktop has open case. Fans are running and components don't appear to have overheated.

System #2 at home:
Clean install of Fedora 28 x86_64 plus latest updates using XFS or BTRFS
Intel i7 16GB SRAM Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H motherboard, AMD RX480 graphics, 2 WD SATA drives: 500GB + 1TB.
Connected USB FreeAgent Go HD formatted as NTFS.
Copied data from USB drive
Copied folder containing about 9GB of music and system hung.

Attaching journal from boot to hang and reset button. Search for Product: FreeAgent Go for when USB HD was connected. Hang occurs around time stamp Jul 14 08:41:58

There should be a fix for this in v4.17.7
