Description Têko Mihinto 2018-07-15 11:49:20 UTC
Document URL:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_directory_server/10/html/configuration_command_and_file_reference/perl_scripts#Perl_Scripts-bak2db.pl_Restore_database_from_backup

Section Number and Name:

10.4.1. bak2db.pl (Restores a Database from Backup)

Describe the issue:

Customer was trying to restore a single database using the Perl script bak2db.pl

RHDS documentation states that restoring a single database should be done with the shell version bak2db and with the server down:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_directory_server/10/html/administration_guide/Populating_Directory_Databases-Backing_Up_and_Restoring_Data#Backing_Up_and_Restoring_Data-Restoring_a_Single_Database

Suggestions for improvement:

Remove the option "-n" from the bak2db.pl documentation.

Additional information:

Bug 1601229 - Restoring a single database with bak2db.pl fails.

Comment 4 Marc Muehlfeld 2018-07-16 14:59:31 UTC
The update is now available on the Customer Portal.

Comment 5 Marc Muehlfeld 2018-07-18 15:09:17 UTC
I also removed the option from the description of the bak2db shell script and republished the guide.
