Description rugk 2018-08-03 12:17:43 UTC
Description of problem: When you download a file the "Open with <application>" is very often wrong and often just shows the text editor (gedit) – even for obvious binary applications.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): firefox-61.0.1-3.fc28

How reproducible: Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidclient/uploads/da4ef9522fc807d6ffdc5be6a7388d22/Untitled.png in Firefox.

Actual results:
https://hostux.pics/images/2018/08/03/37758fdcff0b989666f4a04ceb254ede.png

Expected results:
Open with "Bildbetracher" (image viewer), as set in the GNOME settings: https://hostux.pics/images/2018/08/03/8e8f234b0d7df9ae6743db48ff34cf74.png

Additional info:
This issue is _not_ reproducible with Firefox Nightly 63.0a1 – a build version from Mozilla.

Also not reproducible in Flatpak versions of Firefox, as they use a "system handler" there.

I added patches for mozbz#1427700 and mozbz#1463809 to the Fedora package.

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1136338

Can you please try this version if it's still an issue for you?

Comment 2 rugk 2018-08-18 09:16:01 UTC
It's not in bodhi yet... Anyway, I've tested it, and it works.

Can I close the upstream issue and say "fixed by downstream"?
