Oops.. I should mention my hardware. S7 mvp3 board with a Rage Fury Pro. And I was attempting to use the XF 4.0.1 from an ftp install. I don't know if the rpms are ok on the iso images... I know my video card doesn't work with 3.3.x, but I had X working with the binaries from the xfree86 website. cpio errors indicate problems with your previous install; did you get something like: Error unpacking on /etc/X11/xserver: cpio: unlink failed? |
