Description Orion Poplawski 2005-07-08 21:31:24 UTC
Description of problem:

We have been using a common network install of mozilla 1.7.7 from mozilla.org.
Starting to shift to the mozilla provided in Fedora. The Fedora mozilla does
not display some chinese characters properly. The common install version does.
This may not just be a mozilla issue (may be some underlying library) as firefox
does the same. Have not tested any other browsers.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mozilla-1.7.8-2

How reproducible:
Everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to cn.yahoo.com

I don't read chinese, this was reported by one of our users, so I can't exactly
say what's up with the test. Will attach a screen shot of bad text and of good
text.

Good text with common mozilla

Comment 3 Orion Poplawski 2005-07-25 20:10:54 UTC
Problem persists with mozilla-1.7.10-1.5.1. Problem does not exist with the
stock 1.7.10 from mozilla, as well as the GTK2+Xft version that they provide.

Just adding a "me too". This problem was reported by some of our Chinese users.
Does not show up in FC3.

Could it be related to bug #165195 ?

Comment 5 Orion Poplawski 2005-08-12 16:06:58 UTC
Shouldn't both be using the same font directories? Also, I don't any
/usr/share/fonts/<lang> directories. Should I?

Comment 6 Orion Poplawski 2006-09-15 21:05:15 UTC
Still a problem with firefox 1.5.0.7 in FC5.

Comment 7 Warren Togami 2006-09-15 21:49:40 UTC
Is this still an issue in FC6?

Comment 8 Lawrence Lim 2006-09-25 06:48:47 UTC
Do you have font packages such as fonts-chinese-3.02-6.fc6 installed??

Comment 9 Orion Poplawski 2006-09-25 15:46:27 UTC
Yeah, that did the trick :-). I guess the mozilla package from mozilla.org must
package some fonts as well and that's what threw me. Sorry about that.
