were you able to set the display settings at all? Similar problem has been detected: boot xfce-livecd-x86-64 into VirtualBox VM, want to setup display resolution, run xfce4-display-settings. It crushes immediatly. VM setup have 4Gb ram, 128Mb videoram, 3D acceleration enabled, virtualization set to KVM.
