Description of problem:
After installing RHVH 4.3 build via kickstart file, which not specify explicitly network settings since 'network' is an optional command in kickstart file, ifcfg-* file for the PXE NIC is missing under
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts. Then user cannot activate the PXE NIC after reboot it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
redhat-virtualization-host-4.3-20181122.0.el7_6.x86_64.liveimg.squashfs

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install redhat-virtualization-host-4.3-20181122.0.el7_6.x86_64.liveimg.squashfs via kickstart file (attached in attachment)
2. Reboot host after installation
3. Activate the PXE NIC using command ifup
4. Check the configuration file under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts

Actual results:
After step 3, the PXE NIC cannot be activated
After step 4, the ifcfg-* file for the PXE NIC is missing.

Expected results:
The PXE NIC can be activated successful, and it's ifcfg-* file is exist under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts.

Additional info:

This issue cannot be reproduced with RHVH 4.3 ISO installation.

Comment 4 Wei Wang 2018-12-03 08:18:04 UTC
Test with RHVH-4.3-20181125.1-RHVH-x86_64-dvd1.iso, this bug is fixed. QE will change the status to VERIFIED after it is ON_QA.

Make this comment 4 even more clearly.
Test with RHVH-4.3-20181125.1-RHVH-x86_64-dvd1.iso (since at that time no squashfs image given to QE) as boot iso, using redhat-virtualization-host-4.3-20181122.0.el7_6.x86_64.liveimg.squashfs as the inst.ks parameter (Since this build still using the 4.3-20181122.0.el7_6.x86_64.liveimg.squashfs), then the result display that the bug is fixed. ifcfg-* file for the PXE NIC is under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts after installation.

Now in order to make the test results more accurate, using redhat-virtualization-host-4.3-20181206.0.el7_6.x86_64.liveimg.squashfs to retest it.

Steps
1. Install redhat-virtualization-host-4.3-20181206.0.el7_6.x86_64.liveimg.squashfs via kickstart file
2. Reboot host after installation
3. #ip a s
4. Check the configuration file under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts

Results:
After step 3, the PXE NIC is activated automatically
After step 4, the ifcfg-* file exists under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts.

So the bug has fixed already, QE will change the status to VERIFIED after it is ON_QA

Comment 6 Wei Wang 2019-01-17 01:03:59 UTC
Retest with redhat-virtualization-host-4.3-20190115.1.el7_6.x86_64.liveimg.squashfs, the bug cannot reproduced.
And also according to comment 5, the bug is fixed already, change the status to VERIFIED.
