Description Li Shuang 2018-12-29 05:25:53 UTC
Description of problem:
On RHEL-8.0, human-readable kernel memory info shown by 'free -h' is as follows:
# free -h
              total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem:           62Gi       852Mi        61Gi        17Mi       418Mi        61Gi
Swap:          31Gi          0B        31Gi

But we expect for example '62G', not '62Gi'. It is mentioned in free man page that:
                B = bytes
                K = kibibyte
                M = mebibyte
                G = gibibyte
                T = tebibyte
                P = pebibyte

Hello,

First I would like to denote that no "unexpected kernel memory dump" is involved here.

To see SI units, run 'free -h --si' as per manual page.

Thank you.
