I'm guessing this is a mutter bug, but maybe it's somewhere else in the stack.

anyway, when testing bug 1591250 I didn't have physical access to the machine, so I used gnome-remote-desktop/pipewire to forward it instead.  The problem was all the colors were inverted.

I then tested it on a local vm and the colors are inverted with it too.
