Description Benjamin Berg 2019-01-23 17:01:46 UTC
Description of problem:

NetworkManager uses dnsmasq to provider DHCP to clients when sharing an internet connection (e.g. wifi hotspot). This has worked fine in the past, but the leases file has been moved which prevents dnsmasq from starting up.

The change in NetworkManager triggering this issue is:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/commit/b4116a6fe6a5cfc05c0b81f71dd44b59c7ca0c43

The fix is to allow dnsmasq to access "/var/lib/NetworkManager/dnsmasq-.*\.leases".

This issue affects NetworkManager >=1.14.
