Description Andrew Mike 2019-01-25 21:58:42 UTC
1. Proposed title of this feature request

OpenJFX support in RHEL 8 Java

3. What is the nature and description of the request?
Customer wants the OpenJFX toolkit, an open-source version of JavaFX, included in the OpenJDK package.

4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Customer needs this in order to run the DISA STIGViewer, which is dependent on JavaFX.

5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
Customer would like RPM packages that provide the Java packages needed for JavaFX/OpenJFX support.

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.

If customer and Red Hat can download and run the DISA STIGViewer (https://iase.disa.mil/stigs/Pages/stig-viewing-guidance.aspx), the requirement will be satisfied

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
No RFEs for EPEL, and none for Red Hat. The package appears to be available already in Fedora (java-1.8.0-openjdk-openjfx).

8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?
At this time, customer is targeting RHEL 8.

9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
Sales is not involved.

10. List any affected packages or components.
java-1.8.0-openjdl

11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?

Yes.

Not at all. Split into its own project. Very much alive and well. See https://openjfx.io/
