Comment 2 Ben Marzinski 2019-03-20 19:21:41 UTC
The easiest way to verify this bug is to create a multipath device, and then run

# date
# udevadm control -l debug
# echo change > /sys/block/<multipath_dm_devnode>/uevent
# udevadm control -l info

to turn on udev debugging messages, cause a change event, and then turn off debugging messages.
Then run

# journalctl <time_from_date_cmd>

and look for udev calling /sbin/multipath

With this change udev should no longer call multipath to check on dm devices.

Comment 3 Ben Marzinski 2019-03-22 20:43:09 UTC
the multipath udev rules now skip checking if a dm device is a multipath path device.
