Comment 3 Ray Strode [halfline] 2005-09-22 01:20:38 UTC
Hi Jim,

This bug is quite unusual.

Are you running a stock Fedora Core 4 installation, or is there something
unusual/beside the norm in your setup?

In particular, are you using any 3rd party X drivers?

I'm tentatively assigning this problem to the metacity component, but it's
rather hard for me to imagine a bug in metacity that could cause this behavior.

It may be an xorg issue.

Comment 4 jim 2005-09-22 01:55:28 UTC
This is a basic bone stock install of FC 4 gnome only. I'm in the process of
updating all the xorg updates. As far as X drivers are concerned, when I
installed, the install detectd the card and that was that. Its a notebook with
the intel centrino package.

even with these updates still the same problem. Now the only thing I have
installed xorg wise is the xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-devel-6.8.2-45 &
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.2-45. This was to fix the [Bug 161242] libvgahw.a
is broken in FC4, replacing it with FC3's solves the problem. So maybe this is
a by product of that. i'll try removing those rpms and see if it makes a
difference.

Well I don't want to remove these...

 ~]$ sudo rpm -e xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-devel-6.8.2-45

Any thoughts?

I reinstalled FC4 and the issue has gone away
