Description Diksha Chaudhari 2019-03-21 17:41:13 UTC
Description of problem:
Satellite GUI shows constant changes in the IP address of a client when vlan trunking is configured on a single interface of the client.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Red Hat Satellite 6.4

How reproducible:
In customer's environment:
- A single interface is set up with vlan trunking, so that it appears as multiple sub-interfaces.
- There is a simple machine running just DHCP and having ens1 and ens2 network adapters as it serves multiple networks. Both the adapters share the same MAC address.
- Having this configuration on client, we can see the IP changes for it on Satellite. (Satellite GUI --> Monitor --> Audits)

Actual results:
Constant changes in the device identifier and IP address is observed on Satellite GUI for this specific client. (There are no actual changes in the IP address of the client still Satellite GUI shows these messages in the Audit logs.

Expected results:
Audit logs should only be updated when actually the IP addresses are updated/changed on the client.

Upon review of our valid but aging backlog the Satellite Team has concluded that this Bugzilla does not meet the criteria for a resolution in the near term, and are planning to close in approximately a month. If you have any concerns about this, please contact your Red Hat Account team. Thank you.

Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and while we recognize that it is a valid request, we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. This is due to other priorities for the product, and not a reflection on the request itself. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please do not reopen. Instead, feel free to contact your Red Hat Account Team. Thank you.
