Description of problem: Every time a terminal is docked (expanded, snapped, however you want to describe this) to a side of the screen, and returned to its 'undocked' size, the number of columns and rows displayed in the undocked state decreases.

Tested with GNOME Terminal 3.30.2 on a fully updated Fedora 29 desktop with two monitors, the same version on a laptop, and GNOME Terminal 3.31.90 on a laptop running fully updated Fedora 30 Candidate Beta 1.8.

How reproducible: Every time.


Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open GNOME Terminal
2. Dock the terminal to the side of the screen <Super>-<Right Arrow>
3. Return the terminal to its original size <Super>-<Down Arrow>
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as many times as desired, issue will become obvious. The displayed size eventually bottoms out as the size of the prompt.

Actual results: Each repetition of steps 2 and 3 reduces the number of columns and rows displayed in the undocked state from the previous iteration.


Expected results: The number of columns and rows displayed in the undocked state should remain constant.


Additional info: Making the terminal full screen and returning it to its original size (<Super>-<Up Arrow>, <Super>-<Down Arrow>) does not exhibit the behavior.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 30 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 30 on 2020-05-26.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '30'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' 
to a later Fedora version.

able to fix it before Fedora 30 is end of life. If you would still like 
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version 
of Fedora, you are encouraged  change the 'version' to a later Fedora 
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's 
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a 
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes 
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Fedora 30 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2020-05-26. Fedora 30 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.
