Hi Lumír, (In reply to Lumír Balhar from comment #0) > - What is the reason for the Python2 dependency? (Is it software written in > Python, or does it just provide Python bindings, or use Python in the build > system or test runner?) Chromium uses Python 2.7 in the build system. > - What are the upstream/community plans/timelines regarding Python 3? They started to work on it recently - see https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=942720 Until that's done, we will probably need some sort of exception if possible. Thanks for info. Don't forget to request an exception rather sooner than later. This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 31 development cycle. Changing version to '31'. Don't forget to request an exception rather sooner than > later. How exactly should I do this? Just open a Fesco issue with an explanation. For example: https://pagure.io/fesco/issue/2208 Exception for chromium and python-psutil was granted. Should we keep this open to eventually switch to Python 3? This package has changed maintainer in the Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component. According to the spec this is resolved with release 93: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/chromium/blob/rawhide/f/chromium.spec#_36 |
