Could you please branch and build soxr for EPEL 8 ?
I verified git master builds properly against epel8 target.

I'll take a look but it's still very early and a lot of dependent packages are not yet available, though I haven't looked at sox's dependencies just yet.

Soxr only BR: cmake and gcc. A scratch build of the master branch succeed when built against epel8 target. I don't expect you have any issue with this.

I just tried the build and looks like two packages are still missing:

DEBUG util.py:585:  BUILDSTDERR: No matching package to install: 'opusfile-devel'
DEBUG util.py:585:  BUILDSTDERR: No matching package to install: 'twolame-devel'

You're confusing soxr with sox, and soxr does build :
