Description Jan ONDREJ 2019-09-25 09:48:43 UTC
Description of problem:
Please build python3-mysql for EPEL8.
Thank you.

Comment 1 Michal Schorm 2019-09-25 12:26:37 UTC
In RHEL8, you can use python{2,3}-PyMySQL packages from the python36 module as a Python connectors to the MariaDB and MySQL.

I don't have currently capacity to prepare and build python3-mysql for EPEL8, but I'm open for contributions.

Leaving the BZ open to track the request.
Leaving the BZ in NEW state to show the work not yet started.

Comment 2 Jan ONDREJ 2019-09-25 14:22:55 UTC
OK, thanks. PyMySQL works well. Just apps need to be updates, for example for SQLAlchemy projects in TurboGears2 URL should be updated from:
  sqlalchemy.url=mysql://username:password@hostname:port/databasename
to:
  sqlalchemy.url=mysql+pymysql://username:password@hostname:port/databasename

Btw, python3-mysql for EPEL8 builds cleanly. An Fedora branch just need to be rebuilt.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 32 development cycle.
Changing version to 32.

EPEL 8 branch requested, co-maintainers welcome.

Comment 6 Richard Shaw 2020-06-07 13:03:45 UTC
Michal, can you add me? My branch requests were denied since I'm not a maintainer for this package.

I added you as a co-maintainer of the package

Friendly bump - Gentlemen, has there been any movement on this? Looks like Richard has commit access now.

Comment 9 Richard Shaw 2020-07-10 18:55:59 UTC
I'll get back to it, had other priorities lately ($DAYJOB and $HOME).
