Description Robert Scheck 2019-10-11 21:30:37 UTC
Description of problem:
Please build glib for EPEL 8 (I need glib and gtk+ as build and run-time dependency for the lame package).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
glib-1.2.10-57.fc32

Actual results:
No glib in EPEL 8

Expected results:
glib-1.2.10-57.el8 or better ;-)

Additional info:
Please let me know if you are not interested in maintaining the package on EPEL 8 branch.

Comment 1 Paul Howarth 2019-10-12 08:30:32 UTC
Does lame really need those ancient Gnome-1 libraries? There's no port to something more modern?

I was really hoping that EPEL-8 would be a good time to retire these long-dead libraries.

Comment 2 Peter Oliver 2019-12-18 19:26:36 UTC
They are required only for optional component MP3x, which is a graphical frame analyzer. My feeling is that few people will install and use this, so it would be reasonable to not build it.

Comment 3 Robert Scheck 2019-12-19 23:40:53 UTC
Let's go without lame-mp3x in Fedora 32+ and EPEL 8+
