Description Robert Scheck 2019-10-26 03:03:57 UTC
Description of problem:
Please build mgetty for EPEL 8, because it's a dependency of hylafax+ package. Rebuilding mgetty-1.2.1-6.fc31 package "as is" should be sufficient.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mgetty-1.2.1-6.fc31

Actual results:
No mgetty in EPEL 8.

Expected results:
mgetty-1.2.1-6.el8 - or better ;-)

Additional info:
Please let me know if you are not interested in maintaining the package on EPEL 8 branch.

Comment 1 Zdenek Dohnal 2019-10-31 14:40:22 UTC
Hi Robert,

I have no problem with you maintaining the epel 8 branch. Can I add you as co-maintainer?

Comment 2 Robert Scheck 2020-01-16 20:34:08 UTC
Zdenek, after checking whether upstream is alive and caring about patch suggestions, I'm now happy to get co-maintainer of mgetty.

Comment 3 Zdenek Dohnal 2020-01-17 08:40:37 UTC
Thank you for letting me know!

Robert, would you mind telling me your FAS nickname? I need your FAS nickname so I could add you in src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/mgetty

Comment 4 Zdenek Dohnal 2020-01-17 08:44:10 UTC
Your email name (redhat-bugzilla) did not work. And you have to be in packager group to be a co-maintainer.

Comment 5 Robert Scheck 2020-01-17 08:44:29 UTC
Zdenek, sorry, yes, forgot that. It's "robert".

Comment 6 Zdenek Dohnal 2020-01-17 08:51:14 UTC
Ok, done. Feel free to create EPEL 8 branch and build mgetty.

Comment 7 Zdenek Dohnal 2020-01-17 08:53:23 UTC
Though there can be a delay between adding you as co-maintainer and dist-git's grating you the rights, so do not be afraid - but I'm not sure.

Comment 8 Ben Cotton 2020-02-11 17:24:24 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 32 development cycle.
Changing version to 32.

Comment 9 Zdenek Dohnal 2021-04-28 06:08:00 UTC
Any update on this, Robert? The bug seems stale.

Comment 10 Fedora Program Management 2021-04-29 16:59:56 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 32 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 32 on 2021-05-25.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '32'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 32 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 11 Ben Cotton 2021-05-25 17:33:58 UTC
Fedora 32 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2021-05-25. Fedora 32 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
