As to the pull requests for using fonttosfnt for converting bitmap fonts to *.otb: In https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1753295#c4, Peng Wu mentioned merge requests number 2 to 4 on https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/fonttosfnt/merge_requests. In https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1753295#c10, Peng Wu mentioned another merge request: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/fonttosfnt/merge_requests/5 So there appear to be 5 merge requests related to using fonttosfnt for bitmap font conversion to OpenType bitmaps in total, and all but https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/fonttosfnt/merge_requests/2 have been merged upstream. Some other issues might come up after the time I am writing this, but as of right now, this bug would be solved if all of the above merge requests have ended up in Fedora's fonttosfnt utility. FEDORA-2020-d6b7315fc4 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 31. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2020-d6b7315fc4 xorg-x11-font-utils-7.5-43.fc31 has been pushed to the Fedora 31 testing repository. Description of problem: fonttosfnt needs a few fixes and improvements from upstream and maybe upstream's pull requests to properly generate *.otb files from legacy bitmap font files. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xorg-x11-font-utils-7.5-42.fc31.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. fonttosfnt -b -c -g 2 -m 2 -o terminusn.otb ter-u*n.bdf Actual results: Weird spacing with the *.otb font. Expected results: Proper spacing with the *.otb font. Additional info: The details can be found at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1753295 and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1748495 which I will summarized them properly in this bug later, but first we need a bug for this issue.
