Rawhide already has 3.0.1. I'm skeptical of jumping from 1.6.1 to 3.0.1 in a stable branch of Fedora. https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#stable-releases While I'm not outright opposed to this, I will need some convincing. In particular, have you evaluated this update on these criteria? * Avoid Major version updates, ABI breakage or API changes if at all possible. * Avoid changing the user experience if at all possible. > While I'm not outright opposed to this, I will need some convincing. I am using for a long time GWE with new python-rx 3.0.1 version on F31 and LGTM. Some users installed it from this Copr [1] as well and i didn't recieve any negative feedback yet. [1] https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/atim/gwe/ Without python-rx 3.0.1 we will lose in F31 two really good apps. But yeah, i am worring about ABI/API changes as well and not 100% sure. That's great that 3.0.1 is working well for apps written to be compatible with it, that's a good data point. But as you mentioned, we need more details about breaking changes for apps written for v1 that will be forced over to using v3. I found this migration guide in the upstream docs, and it sounds like this has a high potential to require code changes in software that depends on it. https://rxpy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/migration.html That said, when I originally packaged this it was part of the build requirements of python-responder, which I never finished packaging and submitting. https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/carlwgeorge/python-responder/ As best I can tell, no Fedora 31 packages actually require (or build require) this package. I added you as a co-maintainer of the package, I'll leave the decision (and any potential blowback) up to you.
