I have a similar openoffice not starting problem.

package versions
-----------------
   rpm -qa | grep office
openoffice.org-core-2.0.1.1-9.2
openoffice.org-writer-2.0.1.1-9.2
openoffice.org-draw-2.0.1.1-9.2
openoffice.org-graphicfilter-2.0.1.1-9.2
openoffice.org-calc-2.0.1.1-9.2
openoffice.org-math-2.0.1.1-9.2
openoffice.org-impress-2.0.1.1-9.2
openoffice.org-xsltfilter-2.0.1.1-9.2

Clicking on the office icons anywhere in the UI causes the Open Office
splash screen to appear. The progress bar gets about 1/4 of the way
then it disappears.

Hoping to get more detailed information, I started oowriter (ooimpress,
and oocalc) from the command line. All did the same thing.
