This enhancement adds support for uploading compressed images to the Image service (glance). You can use the image decompression plugin to optimize network bandwidth by reducing image upload times and storage consumption on hosts.

Description of problem:

As a user I would like to upload compressed images to reduce the upload time and reduce the storage consumption on the source host. The process should be backend agnostic and support common compression format (zip, gzip).

It should also support both file and web image upload
