dnf history of the first dnf upgrade after a clean fedora 30 installation currently running with kernel 5.0.7, sudo lshw running with kernel 5.0.7 (wifi stable) none

Description lucas.ullrich 2020-03-31 17:45:48 UTC
Created attachment 1675166 [details]
dnf history of the first dnf upgrade after a clean fedora 30 installation currently running with kernel 5.0.7, sudo lshw running with kernel 5.0.7 (wifi stable)

Description of problem:
As soon as the pc is started the wifi is caught up in a reboot loop, the airplane mode is depicted as soon as wifi turns off. After approximately half a second it starts again and the same shutdown of the module occurs in a constant loop.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Don't know as I don't know which component exactly produces the bug.

How reproducible:
Every Bootup

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf upgrade of the whole library to kernel 5.5.7 (or maybe an even older kernel), even from a clean Fedora 30 installation
2. reboot for the changes to take affect
3. problem exists already during the startup of the gui (visible on the "airplane mode" led

Additional info:
I could not narrow it down to a certain module producing the bug, undoing the dnf upgrade using the dnf history did not fix the bug after present. The only way a working internet connection is possible is either using LAN or an older kernel image during bootup. A log of dnf history and lshw is attached, feel free to contact me for further details on my setup as I might have missed important information.

This looks like the behavior I reported in Bug 1808885, which is fixed in kernel 5.5.15. Can you try that update from the testing repo and let us know if it fixes the issue?
